Should you tell your kids that you're monitoring them?
It's a matter of choice and you need to determine it by the kind of relationship you have with your children. Some older kids may resent it and think you're invading their privacy, while others could care less.
You need to weigh the benefits verses the risks of revealing that sort of information. We understand that's not the answer you're looking for, but the real answer is too individual to make a general statement that covers everyone.
From a legal standpoint, anyone under the age of 18 has no legal right to parental privacy, so you can monitor them without their consent.
If you intend to monitor anyone 18 or older the law states you must tell them before you monitor them.
You feel guilty spying on your children.
We understand, but to be blunt - get over it.
Remember, the Internet is NOT a safe place for kids to be alone, and peer pressure can cause your children to do something stupid. I think you know that or you wouldn't be reading this now.
It's a tough question to ask, but how guilty are you going to feel if you don't monitor your kids activities and something bad happens? It's a scary thought.
Rather then be scared, be proactive and protect your kids today with PC Tattletaleā¢. You need to do what's right.

A Father's Experience
I am the father of 5 kids, all online. I have been dealing with Internet safety and monitoring software before it was even popular.

I have grown kids now that tell me it really did protect them from themselves. I was always one step ahead of them, well almost :-).
The tool that played the biggest role and what I found to be the number one feature that I would not live without was the key logger. I cannot begin to tell you how many times it stopped potentially bad things from happening and how many parenting opportunities it made possible. You will understand better once you have one.
A keylogger can not only protect your kids, it can give you insight into their world if communcations have broken down or you know something is wrong but you just don't know what. Kids open up online, spend 10minutes reading their keystrokes and you will quickly know what's going on. Many parents have discovered plans of running away, or meeting someone in secret etc. to me it's an amazingly efficient parenitng tool.
